We are under a week away from the start of the 2019 Road Ontario Cup Series! The Mosport Classic will be getting the season started this Friday in Bowmanville, ON. This great race will be followed by 4 O-Cup races across Ontario and the Provincial Championships in St. Catharines on May 18th.
New this year! Racers not quite ready to participate in an Ontario Cup category, can register within the Sportif category at various O-Cup events. Riders can register using a Citizen Permit or purchase a Non-Member permit at the time of registration.
Ontario Cup points will be awarded at each event listed in the series, with the exception of the Provincial Championship. Series Champions will be recognized following the last event of the series.
Junior aged riders (born 2001 or 2002) are eligible to self-seed into Elite 3 or Elite 4 Men, or Elite 3 Women categories. Junior aged riders looking to upgrade to Elite 2 Men or Elite 2 Women categories must submit an upgrade request using the appropriate Youth/Junior Upgrade Request Form. Riders will only be considered for an upgrade to Elite 2 if they have clearly demonstrated that they will be competitive at this level.
No gear restrictions will placed on Juniors/Cadets who race within the Elite categories at Ontario Cup events. Juniors must race using Junior gearing in Junior specific categories when offered (i.e. Provincial Championships and Nationally-sanctioned events).

April 19th, 2019 – Road O-Cup #1 – Mosport Classic
Ontario Cup Cycling is back at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Historically known as Mosport). The challenging 4km circuit has 10 turns, 50m in climbing per lap and is wide 40 feet in most sections. No center lines to worry about, no curb, no traffic. This will truly be a treat to launch your 2019 Ontario Cup Road Racing Season! Registration for the Mosport Classic closes on Wednesday, April 17th @ Midnight. The event is pre-registration only, so make sure to secure your spots now.

April 28th, 2019 – Road O-Cup #2 – Calabogie Classic
The second stop of the Road O-Cup Series is at the Calabogie Motorsports Park, located 4 km East of the community of Calabogie. This closed course circuit in Eastern Ontario has proven to be a great location for an early season O-Cup race.

May 5th, 2019 – Road O-Cup #3 – Ontario Police College Criterium
The London Centennial Wheelers are proud to present the 3rd race of the Road O-Cup series to be held on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at the Ontario Police College in Aylmer. The course consists of a relatively technical 1.6km flat circuit on the Police Vehicle Operations course. There are approximately 7 corners and the width of the course varies, combining a wide start/finish straight with some narrow corners.

May 25th, 2019 – Road O-Cup #4 – Northumberland Classic p/b Sea Otter
The Northumberland Classic is back in 2019! The course consists of a 16.5km loop in addition to a 3km out and back, it’s home to the longest and toughest climb in the 2019 Ontario Cup Series! Each loop consisted of 225 meters of elevation through the rolling hills of Northumberland with a start and finish at the Baltimore Recreation Complex. To make things better, Performance Driven Events will be hosting the Criterium Series opener in Quinte on May 26th! Participate in both races located just 30 minutes apart.

June 2nd, 2019 – Road O-Cup #5 – KW Classic
After an exciting year in 2018 the KW Classic Road Race will be returning to Hawkesville, Ontario in 2019. The race will start on Broadway Street in front of the Hawkesville Community Centre and head east. The course consists of a 12.7 km circuit with a steep hard climb up Hawkesville hill and then coming back down the hill enabling riders to reach speeds of 70 km/hr. The remainder of the course is rolling hills and flats. The finish features a long straight away on Broadway Street coming into the town of Hawkesville. The yellow line rule is in effect on all roads except for Broadway Street from Herrgott Road to Steffler Road. This road will be closed (No Yellow Line for the Finish).

Road Provincial Championships
May 18th, 2019 – Steve Bauer Classic presented by St. Davids Hydroponics
The Steve Bauer Classic/Niagara Classic is a staple in Ontario road racing and has become a must in riders’ calendars. In its 35th year, Effingham Hill, also known as Saylor’s Hill, will again prove to be a challenge to racers competing for the coveted Provincial Champion jersey. With a 14.8% maximum grade, the hill never disappoints and will make for a tough racing terrain for those who wish to attack and challenge their adversaries.
The Ontario Provincial Championships will be run on age-based categories. Riders are able to select from the following Provincial categories based on their birthday by the end of December 31st, 2019: Master C Men, Master D Men, Master B Men, Master A Men, Master B Women, Master A Women, U19 Men, U19 Women, U23 Men, U23 Women, Elite Women, Elite Men. Provincial Championship results will not count towards the Ontario Cup Road Series.

Membership & Licensing Information
All racers must possess a valid 2019 UCI license in order to participate in the O-Cup races. License processing takes between 2-3 weeks from the time of purchase. If you are planning on racing any of the events listed above, you must ensure you have received your digital copy of your license before race day. Payment confirmation will not be sufficient to participate.
Racers wanting to participate in the Sportif category can participate with a Citizen Permit or purchase a Non-Member Permit at the time of registration.
