This weekend plays host to two Cyclocross events, spanning across the province, Belleville Cross on the Saturday and Baseball Cross (O-Cup #4) on the Sunday.
The organizers of the Baseball Cross event are excited about the new location. Not only is it closer to Barrie, but it features a playground for children, a large, covered area in case of inclement weather. The complex also features a fully stocked snack shack, which will be offering racers both a hot breakfast, and a hot lunch, or bowl of chili for when you’re done racing.
They’ll also have warm, heated washrooms, and hoses to wash your bike with after your race. Registration opens at 8am and closes 30 minutes prior to each race start. The course will be open for pre-riding after 3pm on Oct. 25th.
Happing the day before, Belleville on Bikes with Major sponsors Doug’s Bicycle and The City of Belleville will be hosting Belleville’s first Cyclocross event. Come out and watch some exciting racing that is held in a confined venue so that you can watch various parts of the race. This is a fast paced and action packed event with racers doing multiple laps of the 3 km course all within Riverside Park West. There will be sand and logs and hills to challenge the racers and make watching exciting. There will be two starts, the first taking place at 11:30 for U17 riders and Women, the second at 1:00 which will be the open class. There will be registration onsite for both categories.
