OCA Annual General Meeting

Dear OCA members,

My apologies for the events that transpired at our Annual General Meeting (AGM) this past weekend.  The OCA Board has and always will operate with the memberships best interests in mind.

The purpose of the AGM is to report operational and policy details to the membership, vote on affairs of the OCA, and elect Board members as required.   We are happy that a number of members have come forward to run for office on behalf of our 4,000 members, it certainly takes a great deal of time.

As I opened the meeting we were immediately questioned on the by-laws as well as the use of proxies.  While many of these issues are easily addressed, the members present would not approve the AGM Agenda.  After almost two hours of debate, those members prevented us from formally starting the meeting.

In an effort to ensure all issues are addressed and that you, the membership, has a voice, I felt it best to adjourn the meeting and address all issues.  While the meeting package had been vetted by our corporate lawyer, we apologize to the membership if the by-laws or use of proxy votes appeared confusing, this was not our intention.

The resolution to this situation will encompass ensuring that we have legal rulings on all of the Points from the last meeting, as well as, but not limited to, the following:

  • A better defined process for handling future impasses.
  • A review of the nomination and election process for transparency and equal access to the membership for all candidates.
  • A new proxy form will be created and re-issued with very clear specifications.
  • A Board position statement will be issued so that it is clearly evident what actions a Board proxy is supporting.

Because of this delay, a new AGM will have to be scheduled, but rest assured that none of the current schedule of races and events will affected.  The dedicated staff at the office are continuing their efforts to deliver you an excellent season, whatever your cycling discipline may be.

If you have questions or concerns let us know immediately.

Best regards,

Chris Chambers

President, OCA

Upgrading Memberships on CCN System- VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!!

March 19, 2013

Online Membership Update

For 2013 we moved from our own registration platform to one hosted by a company called Component Cycling Network (CCN).  Our membership went live a few weeks ago and a number of clubs have been online since January.  To date we have processed hundreds of applications and the core module is functioning well.

The primary issue is that the club module and the OCA module are not yet in sync.  The feature that’s not active is the one where you make an upgrade from one form of membership to another and the system charges you the net upgrade cost and we print off the appropriate card, permit or licence.  Until I receive an indication from CCN when we will be fully live and all modules in sync a workaround has been developed to solve 3 specific issues you might face.

Licences are now up for 2013!!!

The wait is finally over!!!

2013 Licences are now available online. Please visit the link below to setup your account and apply for your licence. Please note you must click on the link below as the membership registration link at the top of the webpage is being updated.
