The Collingwood Cycling Club, would like to invite all members of OCA affiliated cycling clubs to participate in the OCA Club Challenge at the Subaru Centurion Canada in The Blue Mountains on September 19th. The Centurion is a great event on some of the best cycling roads in Ontario. We think that this is a great opportunity for all the OCA cycling clubs in Ontario to meet and greet and get together in friendly competition and celebrate a great summer of riding with one final big ride!
This year we have been working with Centurion Cycling to make this event more cycling friendly. We’ve requested some changes to the event and Centurion cycling has agreed. This year the 50 and 100 mile events are on Saturday so that we can celebrate the ride after the ride on Saturday night. The event itself will start at a more civilized time of 9:00AM and 10:00AM respectively. The Blue Mountain resort will have Tom Lavin and the Legendary Powder Blues Band playing outdoors in the village in the afternoon on Saturday and in the evening we will host a special OCA Club party in the village with a special band forced to wear extra small cycling kit from the top 5 cycling clubs from the OCA Challenge. That alone is worth the price of admission. The other change is that Centurion is asking us all for our input on how to score the team points and ranking systems. Your input would be great!
For those of you who have never ridden the Centurion or just want to get in some good training on the course, you are invited to join us for a Centurion PreRide on Saturday June 27th. This preride event is ONLY open to OCA affiliated clubs and will be run like a proper club ride. We are also hosting a post ride lunch in the village after the ride, where we can do some preride trash talking. We do that better than we ride.
Come join us, show your club colours and let’s close out the season with a big ride and great party.
While you’re in the Blue Mountains take advantage of all the resort has to offer and bring your family, they’ll stay busy and happy while you ride! Or have them join the fun and register for the 25 mile ride or free kids ride on Sunday. Blue offers tons of activities including; ropes courses, mountain biking, a great putting course, hotel pools and hot tubs, Plunge aqua centre, mountain roller coaster, guided hiking, zip lines, plus 40 shops and restaurants in a quaint village atmosphere. www.BlueMountainVillage.ca
