Join us September 29, 2018 for the 4th riding of the Growling Beaver Brevet.

In 2017 we sold out in 8 hours. Make sure you don’t miss out on this year’s registration launch by signing up for our registration launch email list.

Can I manage the 200km course?

Given the distance and the limited daylight hours needed to complete the 200km course, we ask that you are able to maintain a minimum 24km/hr pace.  Your average speed will be lower then your road riding average speed given the gravel roads and climbing.  If you can not maintain this speed, please consider the 40km or 100km course.

What kind of bike should I ride?

The 100km and 200km routes cover several different surface types during the Growling Beaver with several gravel climbs and descents.  It is recommended that you ride a gravel bike or a cyclocross bike with a minimum 30mm tire and appropriate tread. A front and rear light are recommended for all riding the 100km course and mandatory for participants in the 200km route.    Any style of bike for the 40km is acceptable.

About The Davis Phinney Foundation and Parkinson Wellness Project

Eleven years ago, Olympic medalist, Tour de France stage winner and sports broadcaster Davis Phinney set out to share what he’d discovered since learning he had Parkinson’s: that although he could not change the diagnosis, there was much he could do to change how he lived with the disease. The same determination, optimism and conviction that brought him success as a professional athlete applied naturally to his approach to Parkinson’s: set goals and strive for the best possible results. From these humble beginnings, the Davis Phinney Foundation was born, with a mission to help people with Parkinson’s to live well today.
