About Sea Otter Canada: New and exciting cycling events in a festival-friendly venue at Ontario’s Blue Mountain Resort.

Sea Otter Classic is the world’s premier cycling festival and has been a favorite in North America for almost 30 years. In 2019, the iconic Sea Otter brand expands to Canada. Set to take place in Blue Mountain, Ontario, just 90 minutes north of Toronto, Sea Otter Canada joins the ‘Classic’ in Monterey, California and Sea Otter Europe (Girona, Spain) as the third edition of Sea Otter. The multi-day festival and celebration of all things cycling will run from July 4th to 7th, 2019. Sea Otter Canada will showcase the best cycling in Ontario with 9 racing / riding events, family activities throughout the weekend, bike demos and opportunities to check out the latest and greatest cycling products. Whether you’re a roadie, XC mountain biker, downhiller or ebike enthusiast you’ll be right at home at Sea Otter!

New and Exciting Race Formats

Road events include a Hill Climb Championship (inspired by Phil Gaimon… but accessible to avid riders), a fun and challenging Gravel ride titled ‘The Scarecrow’ (40km and 80km distances) and a classic Gran Fondo (40km, 80km and 120km routes) covering the scenic roads and hills of Town of the Blue Mountains and the beautiful Southern Georgian Bay region of Grey and Simcoe Counties.

For the more casual cyclist, the Hub & Spoke Ride showcases area attractions including wineries, craft breweries and other locations that will have you exploring all weekend with offers and incentives making it worth the ride to get there.

On the Dirt, Sea Otter will offer 5 events, some unique to Eastern Canada!

You can experience the ever-popular Dual Slalom, challenging yourself in head to head racing or taking it in as a spectator from the beer garden at the heart of the Sea Otter Expo. The Air  Downhill features some the best high flying terrain that Blue Mountain has to offer. For the XC crowd the XC Short Track offers $2,000 in prize money that will no doubt ensure some serious racing, while the XC 3hr Relay is all about endurance and teamwork with single and multi-rider team categories.

Most of the dirt and MTB events will start and finish right in the Expo area, connecting Expo visitors to all the action.

Family-Friendly Fun

Sea Otter isn’t just about racing. Kids’ activities, an expansive product expo and entertainment program will add to the fun of the weekend long festival. Local food trucks and craft breweries will be on-site offering great tastes and refreshment. Sample some of Ontario’s best brews and ciders along with an array of creative food offerings.

The list of exhibitors is already extensive and is expected to include up to 200 leading cycling brands: Cannondale, Trek, Canyon, Bosch, Shimano, SRAM, Santa Cruz, Brodie, Pivit, Intense, Sidi, Continental Tire… just to name a few.

Bike demos are a feature aspect of Sea Otter. Leading brands across all categories including mountain, road, gravel, commuter and ebikes will be on hand for you experience and do some exploring. Grab an ebike to buzz around the base of Blue Mountain, shred a downhill trail on a 2020 DH model or try to set a new Strava PR on the most aero and newest road bikes on the market. There’s literally something for everyone.
