Ride for a Cause July 5, 2014

Looking for a new challenge? Well look no further. Ride For A Cause is the newest cycling event to hit the OCA calendar and it’s taking names; literally. Clip in your shoes and get ready for this 100 km journey through the escarpment with scenic rural views and challenging trails. Can’t hack the long haul? Don’t worry, there is a shorter 60 km Ride for the frivolous joy rider.

Ride For A Cause (RFAC) is a cycling fundraiser that partners with local and international charities to raise funds for initiatives in support of people with real needs. 100% of the funds raised go towards helping the homeless, low income families, and people controlled by addictions. You can help make a big difference in someone’s life.

Not only are you giving back to the community, you will also meet some great new people to ride with, especially if you take advantage of the training rides. The director of RFAC, Darren Cabral, is an avid cyclist who has been competing in sanctioned races across Southern Ontario for the past 5 years. His passion for cycling and vision for this event has led to its increasing success, along with the help and motivation of his co-founding members.

RFAC has been growing exponentially since its inception in 2011, becoming an OCA sanctioned event and gaining more coverage and awareness across the GTA to involve the participation of over 40 individuals in 2013, raising over $21,000 in funds. RFAC has momentum, and is not stopping any time soon.

The date of the ride is Saturday July 5, 2014.  Go to www.rideforacause.ca for more information.
