OCA Biographies
Executive Director Jim Crosscombe
|
Jim has been involved in outdoor recreation and the cycling scene since 1991. He earned his diploma in Outdoor Recreation from Seneca College. After starting as a member of the Beaver Valley Mountain Bike Club, he quickly became involved in organizing mountain bike events up to and including Provincial Chamionships, instructing Learn To Ride clinics as an Ontario Mountain Bike Instructor (OMBI). It was shortly after this that he accepted a position on the Ontario Mountain Bike Council. Now a Level 2 OMBI, Jim was also instrumental in the establishment and continuation of the Trail Ranger program for cyclists at Algonquin Park.
Jim was elected President of the OCA in 1998 and has been at the cornerstone of its re-organization. It is as OCA President that Jim has made his greatest contribution to cycling. Jim accepted the daunting task of returning the OCA from the edge of bankruptcy to the stable position it holds today. Under his superb leadership the Association and sport of cycling is again on the rise in Ontario. The OCA has welcomed back BMX racing, has had major sponsorship agreement for its two Ontario Cup Series, a formalized Cyclocross Series and is continuing to see increasing participation in Road racing.
Jim lives in Toronto with his wife Carolyn, and their 2 children. In his spare time, Jim can be found enjoying the outdoors, hiking and camping with his family. |
