(Adult courses : Children's courses : Meeting Minutes)
This course is the basic certification course that police services in many communities are using to train their bike patrol officers. It is also the course that teachers are required to take in many boards of education if they want to take children on bike hikes off school property. If you are interested in becoming an instructor of any of the adult or children's on-road courses, this course is a prerequisite. There is a test at the end.
The course covers traffic theory as it applies to bikes, bike handling skills, defensive riding skills, collision avoidance techniques and traffic analysis skills. Basic equipment and maintenance are covered, as are commuting, touring and rural riding.
These 12 hour courses offer information and skills useful for adult cyclists returning to cycling after many years, or want to cycle in low traffic settings.
Adult Learn to Ride The Toronto Cycling Committee will again be offering Adult Learn to Ride Courses in downtown Toronto. Small groups learn together on grass to balance, steer and brake. If you or someone you know has always wanted to learn to ride, now is the chance. It is amazing how far you can progress in three hours.
