NCCP Community Initiation Learning Facilitator Course in Ontario - Expression of Interest
Mar.03.2010

The OCA in partnership with the CCA is looking to run a Community Initiation (CI) Learning Facilitator Course in Ontario in April.

The proposed date would be April 17-18 (Friday and Saturday) and the course would take place in the GTA.

For more information on the new NCCP Coaching stream please click here

Community Cycling- Initiation is the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) context for coaches who will primarily work with novice, pre-competitive cyclists at the community level. These participants will likely be children in the FUNdamentals to early Train to Train stages of long-term athlete development (LTAD). We expect these participants to be able to ride a bicycle, be interested in improving their skills, and open to trying a competitive experience.

Community Cycling- Initiation cyclists will usually participate 1 to 3 times per week. Coaches will likely be volunteers, parents, and recreation and summer camp leaders, so the program is simple, based on a number of pre-designed lesson plans, and adaptable to the varying skill and ability levels of participants. The focus of the program will be on having participants develop skills which are basic to MTB, BMX, and Road, in a controlled, off-road, off-trail setting such as a sport field or parking lot. This will help minimize liability issues for those delivering the program, making it more acceptable to municipal recreation departments and schools.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

To be considered for training as a Community Initiation Facilitator/Evaluator, the individual will meet the following requirements:
