Track

With former Ontarian, Lori-Ann Muenzer winning a gold medal in the Sprint event at Athens, track has seen a boom in Ontario.  By the end of 2005, Ontario will be home to two functioning tracks.  Below are a list of Track Programs and information.

Wind Del Park - Racing Velodrome Resurfacing project
Delhi, ON

Located 30 Km south of Paris in Windham Centre Ontario, the Wind Del cycling Velodrome is the only one of its kind iGrass on Wind-Del Trackn Ontario. This track was constructed almost 30 years ago by a dedicated team of volunteers. It has been the training location for many of Canada's top racing cyclists as well as host to numerous Ontario Cycling Association events.

Although the track base is in good condition, the asphalt needs to be resurfaced. This project is estimated to cost up to $100,000.00 dollars. Because of this, high-speed cycling events must be held outside the province, hours away, and costing thousands more to host an event.

The ONTARIO CYCLING ASSOCIATION and the HUMAN POWERED TRANSPORTATION ASSOCIATION are partnering with other cycling groups in the province to raise funds to resurface this track.

We need your help to save this track from destruction and bring our Canadian racers back home to train and Race.

There are two options for you to support this cause. The first is simply a tax-deductible donation. There are no sponsorship rights associated with this support; however, there will certainly be acknowledgement for these supporters. Cheques or money orders can be made out to the "Sport Is Development Fund" and mailed to the OCA office. Credit Cards will also be accepted: call the OCA at 416.426.7416. Tax Receipts will be mailed out within two to three weeks. Registered Charitable number: BN 88938 6868 RR0001

The second option involves a sponsorship / partnership. For sponsorship opportunities, please contact Joe Mitrovic: hpta@rogers.com

A highly successful fundraising campaign has enabled the go-ahead for track construction however more fundraising is still required for daily operations.
