The OCA Florida Handcycling Camp concluded this weekend with participation in the Swamp Classic, a 2-day handcycling competition featuring a road race and time trial. Christine Molnar found the podium with a 3rd place finish in both the Road Race and Time Trial, Robert Buren placed 2nd in the Time Trial and Anthony Lue placed 4th in the Road Race. This is the third time the warm-weather camp has been hosted in Florida in the past five years. The break from the Ontario winter allows athletes to get in some needed base miles, while working on skill refinement and race preparation. Coaches Blaine Betzold and Chantal Thompson lead the week-long camp, helping push athletes to new personal bests on distance and timed efforts while also taking care of all logistical matter to ensure athletes could remain focused on training. This camp was supported in part by the Canadian Paralympic Committee’s Paralympic Sport Development Fund.
